Spectrum Mines

Spectrum Mines, located near Plush, Oregon, produce significant amounts of commercially mined Oregon Sunstone rough. For the adventuresome public here is also a rare opportunity to mine and keep truly beautiful gemstones, sometimes of exceptional size and quality. “Treasure hunting” doesn’t get much better, especially when a beautiful piece of gem rough is cut into an exceptional gemstone by a talented artist (like those who assist our effort).

From gemstone rough mined by Chris Rose, owner of Spectrum Mines, American Gemstones gratefully presents a pair of beautiful Oregon Sunstones. “River of Fire” and “Aeon Flux”. Both are now a part of the American Gemstone Legacy Collection at the University of Arizona Alfie Norville Gem and Mineral Museum.

If you are lucky enough to talk to Chris you’ll soon understand how knowledgeable he is and why we believe Chris is one of the best prospecting gemstone miners we know.

Artisanally cut by Dalan Hargrave for Robin Callahan Designs; Rebirth is not a part of the American Gemstone collection. We appreciate the opportunity to post this image as another example of the stunning gem potential of Oregon Sunstone from Spectrum Mines.)
