American Gemstones is a showcase site for North American gemstones. We work with as many mines and artists as we can to bring these gems into public view. The gemstones are arranged in a fashion that helps us keep somewhat organized, but we realize there are many different ways which we may better serve you and those contributing to this project. For that reason there are many ways to conduct different kinds of searches on the American Gemstones site:

Category Search – A group of buttons (horizontal on desktop, vertical on mobile) are for the purpose of presenting gemstones according to the type which are posted on the page which is currently displayed. This an easy way to quickly browse through the images (and attached posts).

Refined Search – A search function has been added to the Search Gems page. Select one (or more) of the gemstone Type, Mine, Artist or Museum (or in any combination). Simply use the drop-down menus for the selection you wish to search and then select the magnifying glass to implement the search you want. Remember to use the “X” to clear your search. A Category Search can be used in conjunction with a Refined Search (for example; select Darryl Alexander from the Artist drop-down, implement a search and refine this search by using the Category Search buttons). Remember, however, not all categories will return a result if the Refined Search criteria don’t include a result in a particular Category.

Tags – At the bottom of each post may be a list of Tags. Selecting a tag may return specialized results (for example; try viewing the post for Spectrum Mines, then click on the “Fee Digging” tag and you will see the mines listed on the site which provide gemstone adventures open to the public for a fee). Tags may include State, Award Winning Artist, Color, type of cut, and others.

Have fun with the gemstones and related stories. We hope you will use the Social Sharing buttons provided at the bottom of this (and every) page to share American Gemstones with your friends.
