Nature symbolism has a long history and been displayed in many ways, such as barn paintings and portable placards known as “hex signs”. When the mystery of symbolism is combined with the mystical powers of crystals, the resulting gemstone is nothing short of magical. Dalan Hargrave shows the magic and mystical powers of his gemstone artistry in the beautifully designed and cut Sacred Symbol.

Dalan and many American artists and miners have spent considerable time traveling similar paths as American Gemstones. These paths cross on occasion and the resulting conversations and activities are always meaningful. Certainly, one of the most fun connections is being able to dig gemstones together at a mine operated by a friend.

During the “off-season” we zip in and out of a much tighter web of paths at the annual Tucson Gem & Mineral show in Arizona. We have had the fortune to share some time and an occasional meal together. These, too, are “magical” times. One result of this cooperative effort is American Gemstones. The contributions from miners and artists, in both thought and effort, spurred our mission to share a legacy of gems and gemstone artistry.

We also acknowledge a wider circle of encouragement from museums, collections, trade shows and other professionals. In particular these include: UA Alfie Norville Gem and Mineral Museum, Somewhere in the Rainbow, the Pueblo Gem and Mineral Show, Ouellet & Lynch and many others. Our thanks!
