Rose Quartz Rough
Pegmatites are a course grained granitic structure containing larger crystals. Sometimes called “Nature’s Treasure Chest” because, depending upon the associated elements, many gemstones form within these igneous structures.
Rose quartz is found in the center of a pegmatite surrounded by milky quartz. The Hogg mine has large masses of Rose Quartz exposed and produces some of the finest quality of this gemstone to be found in North America. A star effect can be present in both the Rose and Smoky quartz found at the Hogg Mine.
Other gemstones from this mine include Aquamarine, Tourmaline and Amethyst. We’re looking forward to future digging adventures at the Hogg Mine in order to broaden our representation of the gemstones from this historic gemstone location.
