Oregon Sunstone can be a complex stone to cut. Some stones have multiple colors; others appear as one color when viewed in one direction and present a different color when seen at a different angle. Careful study is often required, even when cutting a stone which has the appearance of one color. The wrong angle and…oops, that mostly red or mostly green stone has turned to (what is commonly called) “root beer” in color. The ability of Aivan Pham to bring out the best color and cut in a faceted gem is a talent on which American Gemstones relies. His ability to cut a stone such as Rojo Mojo, simply put, brings out the vivid (Rojo) red of this Oregon Sunstone that is (Mojo) “something magical or supernatural”.
Aivan is a multiple national award-winning gemstone cutter but perhaps the best testament comes from the respect of fellow gem artists. Here is what Darryl Alexander says about Aivan:
“xxxx”
American Gemstones enjoys comradery and support from many mines and artists. We also admire the supportive cooperation that world-class gemstone artists have, at times, with each other regardless of their competitive spirit. Aivan certainly leads by example.
