River of Fire

  • GEMSTONE:        Oregon Sunstone, 130 carat carving
  •  ARTIST:                Darryl Alexander, Arizona
  •  MINE:                   Spectrum Mine, Oregon
  •  MUSEUM:            UA Alfie Norville Gem and Mineral Museum, Tucson, Arizona

The flowing River of Fire is a large carved Oregon Sunstone from gemstone rough produced by Spectrum mines. The mine owner, Chris Rose has a number of mining sites for Oregon Sunstone and is also one of the best prospectors we know, constantly locating other gemstone materials.

Naturally, by placing a beautiful large piece of Oregon Sunstone rough in the hands of a multi-award winning artist like Darryl Alexander we have come to anticipate the extraordinary. River of Fire lives up to our expectation. Truly, the efforts of American Gemstones to build meaningful and interesting displays would be impossible without Darryl’s talents, help, friendship and cooperation. Since Darryl has contributed so much to the concept and results of American Gemstones, we asked his thoughts on what has been accomplished so far and his thoughts on what he’d like to see in the future:

“xxxx”

American Gemstones is thankful for the help of Spectrum Mines and Darryl Alexander.
