Like the famous street in San Francisco, Dalan Hargrave’s work switches direction in many ways but is always captivating and unique. We know Dalan as an astonishingly talented gemstone artist and jeweler. The focus of his cutting artistry is always to bring out the best from each piece of gemstone rough. Lombard Street is a great example. It’s Rose Quartz and yet our eye keeps returning to a gemstone we can’t help but appreciate for the skill it exemplifies.
We know Dalan to be a family man and, when it can happen, a fun and hard-working digging/mining companion at any mine. We are fortunate to have help from Dalan in building this museum quality collection of American gemstones. He has won many, many awards and to this he says:
“At this point in my career, winning more awards is nice but building legacy is more important.”
Because of his interest in legacy building, he teaches his craft to many others. This is also why we call the collection at the University of Arizona the American Gemstone Legacy collection. Oh…but be warned gemstone artists, Dalan will enter more competitions and you all know how difficult it is to keep up with his many “twists and turns”.
