Gazing through a portal of delicate spires and floating orbs, a green mist shrouds a dreamlike landscape. The clarity and design of Dreamscape leaves us transfixed, as if we’re lost in infinity. Frankly, we can find no better place to be.

Nick Alexander cut this superb Oregon Sunstone for American Gemstones. With help from his father, Nick began working with gemstones at the age of 10. A different Sunstone Butte gemstone won Nick his first national cutting award at 17. American Gemstones was proud to sponsor Nick in this accomplishment. We hope to find additional talented, young gem artists. We also are lucky enough to work with a number of (multi)award winning artists who are helping to share their vision in extraordinary gemstone art. For those who wish to join in the adventure, contact American Gemstones.

In order to assure the quality of any group of gemstones we present to a museum, each gem must first be evaluated. Our preferred expert is Craig Lynch. Craig not only conducts the final appraisal certification, but also provides American Gemstones an opportunity to gain insight and feedback on current efforts and future direction of the collection. He has described the effort of American Gemstones as “creating a snapshot in time of the American gem mining and gemstone cutting industry”. Craig is right, of course, nothing goes on forever. We strive our best to provide the public with a meaningful, long term vision of an industry that is tough to be successful in and tough to successfully and broadly represent in a manner the artist and miners deserve.

The many challenges faced by American Gemstones can be daunting. We are very lucky to be associated with a fun and talented group to help us find our way through infinite possibilities.
